RYA Powerboat Level 2
A two-day course providing the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat. This is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence.
ABOUT THE COURSE
- 2 Days 09.30 till 17.30 - Ratio: Max 3 persons - Difficulty: Beginners
Learn to Powerboat and gain your license for operating a Powerboat. Included is all the basic boat handling skills, this is a hands on practical course
Course includes use of our RIB which is based in Marina Vela right in the centre of Barcelona
Fuel, certificate and handbook are all included.
We limit our numbers on the course to ensure you have plenty of time on the helm with an experienced RYA instructor to guide you through.
Course Syllabus
- Safety equipment onboard - Pre departure checks - Weather and tides - Charts, navigation and understanding your local area - Berthing in marinas, mooring on buoys and close quarter handling - High speed manoeuvres and crew safety - Person over board recovery and prevention - Planning and executing a trip using electronic and paper charts - Collision regulations - Dayshapes, night lights and buoyage
What to Bring
- Passport Photo for the licence - Lunch money or packed lunch, there are plenty of local places to get a bite - Small bag with extra layers, there is storage on the boat - Non slip or trainer style shoe - Waterproofs - Sun block and hat for those sunny days
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the licence valid?
Your licence will be registered with the RYA so the is always a record, there is no revalidation required.
Can I hire a boat using the licence?
Yes, plus you can also gain the International Certificate of Competence(ICC), this is just a paperwork exercise as you gain for the ICC with your level 2 licence.
What type of boats can I drive?
The course is for day boat use in the daytime in familiar waters. Once you have gained some more experience and want to venture further afield we hope you will come back to us to do the Dayskipper course!
