Kalpitiya features Sri Lanka's biggest coral reef. Many travelers have left it unspoiled and unprotected. It is home to a wide variety of colorful fish and sea critters. There are various diving sites in the water, and we organize professional dive sessions
The diving season at Kalpitiya begins in late November and lasts until early May. (though this can vary by a couple of weeks either end, depending on the exact dive location and type of dive you want to do).
During this period, the west coast of Sri Lanka experiences optimum wind and water conditions, making it ideal for scuba diving and snorkeling. There will be little wind, little currents, and reasonably calm sea conditions.
This also happens to coincide with whale and dolphin watching season.
PADI Discover Scuba Diving is a brief try-diving experience for adults and children aged 10 and above. This course teaches you to the fundamentals of diving but does not qualify you as a diver. The Discover Scuba Diving is often a one-day or half-day activity, making it an excellent choice if you've been wanting to try SCUBA but don't have much time while on vacation. It's also ideal for gaining confidence in the water before diving into a full course.
A competent PADI expert will give you a quick but extensive lecture on the impacts of water pressure, how to communicate underwater, how your equipment works, and how to enjoy diving safely throughout a normal DSD program. Then you're all set! The first session is a 'restricted water' practice in a swimming pool or calm pool-like location, where you'll learn how to breathe via your regulator and swim effectively while wearing your gear. In addition, you will be shown a few basic techniques from the complete Open Water course. When you're ready, the second dive is a 'open water dive,' which means your PADI expert may take you to an easy, shallow dive site in the open ocean - after all, that's what it's all about.

Transfers, equipment rentals, and certification fees are all included in the price of all courses for beginner and qualified divers; they are not charged separately.
Requirements:
• Must be at least 10 years old.
• No prior scuba diving experience is required, however you must be in good physical condition.
• All divers are required to complete a quick scuba medical questionnaire on any medical issues that may pose a hazard while diving.
Diving equipment
All of our dives and courses include the following items: a shorty wetsuit, a regulator, a BCD, a mask, fins, weights, and a tank. At the dive center, you may hire additional equipment such as a flashlight, dive computer, compass, dive camera, and so on.
